Atlas Homewares, The Passion for Design
Atlas Homewares takes its inspiration from its founder, Adrienne Morea, a woman who identifies herself more as a fashion designer than a designer of functional hardware. Atlas designs are based around themes or motifs, such as retro or futuristic, and are frequently highlighted on the pages of design publications.
Though initially an independent company, Atlas has recently been involved in two of the highest profile acquisitions in the cabinet hardware industry. First, Atlas was purchased by competitor Top Knobs, then both of those companies were purchased by Hardware Resources, the company that makes Jeffrey Alexander and Elements.
What makes these two acquisitions stand out in the cabinet hardware space is that both times the purchases were made by other top hardware companies. This stands in stark contrast to the typical acquisitions made in the space, such as the purchase of Amerock by Newell Rubbermaid, which feature large conglomerates purchasing hardware companies as assets.
The difference shows in the artistic creativity that Atlas Homewares continues to show in its product line. Top Knobs and Jeffrey Alexander already stood out for their exceptional designs, and both of those companies truly understand what it takes to excel in the cabinet hardware space. Thus Atlas Homewares has been able to continue its tradition of leading designs even after it gave up on its corporate independence.
Atlas certainly stands out in the area of elegant design, and are a top choice for a distinctive, yet affordable, hardware line.
