Jaye Design produces hand-cast bronze hardware that has more in common with bronze sculpture than it does with the mass-produced cabinet knob brands. They make their hardware using the lost wax method of casting, a labor intensive method known for producing one of a kind pieces.

Each item ordered from Jaye Design is truly one of a kind. We're not just saying that to brag about the product, but also to give a caution to customers: Even when ordering multiples of the same piece, do not expect them to be exactly the same. This is not a mass produced product, each one is worked by hand, and there will be small natural variations. Accordingly, when ordering cabinet pulls, Jaye Design recommends to wait to drill the holes until after the pieces arrive, not to have them pre-drilled based on the listed dimensions as they might not fit precisely. Conversely, if you have already drilled your cabinets, you can send ahead the precise measurements and Jaye Design will make sure that your pieces come out as a perfect fit.
The same holds true for the finishes. These have what is known as a living finish. This means that the finish will change slightly over time as the finish interacts with the environment. Living finishes are considered to enhance the beauty of the bronze, and indeed, many of their finishes are clear enough to allow the natural patterns in the metal to be displayed. However, if you do not wish to order a product that will age, then let us know and we'll help you find other brands that might better suit your needs.
In addition to being "living," the finished tend to come out slightly different each time. This means that it's best to order all of your Jaye Design products at once, so they can be finished together. If you want to order new pieces to match the old, let us know and we will do our best to accommodate that request. Sometimes this involves sending back your old pieces so that they can produce a new finish that's an exact match.
