All About Backplates!

Let's talk about backplates today, shall we? Don't know what a backplate is? Well, it's basically a barrier between the surface of wood and the hardware. Not only can these be very decorative and add a little spice to your design, but it can also be added as a protective measure. Today I would like to give you a few tips and hints for when to use a backplate.
Have you ever changed out old hardware and noticed there was a "scar" on the surface from the old knobs or pulls? Using a backplate will help you cover up that eyesore to help avoiding the daunting task of refinishing!
Refinishing. You either love it or you hate it. In the event that you hate it, but really need to change the pull or knob size that you're using, use a backplate. Let's use the older 2.5" center drill holes for a moment. You found some pulls that you absolutely love but they have 3" drill hole spacings. Back to the drawing board, right? WRONG! You can get a backplate that has a 3" hole spacing; simply make sure that the total length is longer than 2.5" to cover the existing holes. Then, all you would need to do is drill new holes for the pull! No refinishing to be done.
Lastly, backplates can give more dimension and presence to the knobs or pulls that you are selecting and help draw more attention to the hardware. There are so many different backplates to choose from. Whether they be from the plain Jane to the more ornate, we have what you're looking for.
Here are just a few examples of what we have.
