Cabinet Knobs for All Cabinet Types
When it comes to the cabinet hardware you use in your kitchen, you have choices as to what type and style you use. This includes the choice to use knobs or pulls. Knobs are typically smaller than pulls, and require you to pinch, grasp, or otherwise hold them to open a door or drawer. Pulls are larger, and potentially easier to use, but often lack the decorative style and flair that a knob can bring.
While smaller than a pull, cabinet knobs often bring a more subtle charm and style to the space. When you want an accent for the kitchen or bathroom that can bring color, interest, or detail without taking overwhelming the area, knobs can deliver.
Selecting Cabinet Knobs
One of the best parts of using knobs is the many different options that are available to you. A knob does not have to mean a simple round, metal button on the front of a cabinet; it can be an opportunity to add a little life or whimsy into the kitchen or bath.
When determining what type of cabinet knobs to include in your design, start by looking at the overall size or style of the knob. Do you want something more functional, like a pull knob, or do you want to make a statement with a novelty knob? Remember that size matters; larger knobs and pull knobs can often be easier to use, but smaller knobs may fit a smaller drawer front better.
Next, consider the shape of the knob. Do you have a lot of clean lines in the kitchen that you want to match? Consider a square or rectangular-shaped knob to match those lines and add a subtle bit of cohesiveness to the design. Other options include ornate scrollwork to match wrought iron fixtures, or decorative shapes to match backsplash tiles or pottery.
Finally, match the finish of your knob to other finishes and colors in the room. Cabinet knobs come in numerous colors and finishes so you can match the metal of your faucet, or the glass of your pendant lights. When considered carefully, your cabinet knobs can blend right in to the rest of the kitchen or bathroom, helping to solidify the entire design.
