Enhance Your Kitchen with Decorative Shelving
Not every kitchen uses solid wood cabinet doors to conceal what’s inside. And sometimes even those that do need a little extra detail to show off the interior. If you have open cabinets in your kitchen, glass door panels, lattice door fronts, or you just want to dress up the interiors of your cabinets a little, consider some decorative shelving for your kitchen.
Decorative shelves sit on top of, or in place of, your existing cabinet shelves. They help to protect your current shelving, particularly if it is weak and bends beneath heavier stacks of plates and dishes.
In addition to protecting and strengthening your shelves, they also add a little decorative detail to the interiors of your cabinets. Each shelf features a small, decorative rail that extends partway, or all the way, around the perimeter of the shelf. This rail often features a repeating pattern such as vines or grape leaves you can use to enhance your kitchen design.
There are many different kitchen designs that can benefit from the use of decorative shelving in the cabinets. Some Country designs make good use of cabinets that have no door fronts, exposing the inner shelves. Other, more formal designs use glass panel doors that also expose the inner shelves. Themed kitchens such as wine, grape, or Tuscan can also make use of decorative shelving to add an unexpected touch of detail to the overall design.
Decorative shelves come in different sizes and shapes so you can outfit all the shelves in your kitchen. Whether you choose to use them only on the visible shelves or behind each closed door, decorative shelving is a great way to dress up an often overlooked area of your kitchen.
