Over the course of the past few weeks we have been talking about what's trending in 2015. The one inescapable trend dominating kitchen and bathroom design is the importance of cabinetry and hardware. In the kitchen, the focus is on the island acting as piece of furniture offset with minimal cabinets and open shelving. In the bathroom, showers and over-sized tubs are the focal point. Sinks are either free standing and open underneath or double basin sinks set inside contemporary, linear cabinets are featured.

As a result, knobs and pulls are now very important as a design element. There are two schools of thought about hardware in 2015. One is that the knob or pull should be a fluid, natural extension of the cabinet design. The other is that the knob or pull becomes a statement piece meant to reinforce the overall design.

Either way, the knobs or pulls being selected are also following 2015 trends and tend to be sleek and modern made of mixed metals or other eco-friendly materials or they are tribal and rich in color. This trend literally opens the door for the introduction of custom knobs and pulls manufactured specifically for the

cabinet.
