Add Visible Function to Your Cabinets with Wrap Hinges

While you probably don’t give a lot of thought to the hinges on your cabinet doors, they’re actually very important to their function. Without hinges, your cabinet doors wouldn’t remain on the frame. And if they did, they certainly wouldn’t be very easy to open and shut.

In addition to helping your cabinets function, hinges also come in a variety of different styles. While more subtle than pulls, knobs, and other hardware, hinges can also add some style and design to the cabinet as a whole.

Wrap hinges are one of the more visible and stylish types of hinges available. While some hinges are hidden inside the cabinet door, or are only partially visible on the knuckles, wrap hinges wrap around the cabinet frame during installation, so they are very visible. In addition, because they come into greater contact with the frame without any additional cutting or routing, wrap hinges often stay stable longer, needing fewer adjustments and having less sagging.

There are several different types of overlay or wrap hinges. Some wrap or overlay the cabinet frame more totally than others, so they may be more visible than others. Full wrap hinges wrap around both sides of the frame, while partial wrap hinges are less visible and only wrap the back portion of the frame.

These hinges aren’t as decorative as strap or surface hinges, but they do at some extra depth and interest to the cabinet, while holding larger and heavier doors easily.
